I HAD THE PLEASANT ELEMENT WHERE YOU DISCOVER A PEARL ON YOURSELF.
AS IF BY ACCIDENT.
I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE I DIDN’T WRITE ABOUT THIS ONE BEFORE.
AND YOU GOTTA WATCH IT.
IN 1975, THE CONTROVERSIAL DIRECTOR ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY GOT THE PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR THE SEMINAL SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL “DUNE”.
ALTHOUGH HE NEVER ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK, HE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT – THE FILM THAT, IF COMPLETED, WE WOULD ALL LIVE IN A DIFFERENT WORLD…
- The movie had a budget of about $10,000,000 in 1976 which equals $40,000,000 in 2016 dollars if adjusted for inflation. It could pioneer before Kubrick’s “2001” as the most revolutionary sci-fi film in history.
- With the aim to give audiences the mind-opening experience of LSD, and with the planned editorial versions of 4, 12 and 20 hours, the script was rejected by all of the major studios.
- Frank Herbert’s “DUNE” franchise had several adaptations throughout the years, but none were ever considered worthy by admirers, including the most famous one by legendary surrealist David Lynch.
