JODOROWSKY’S DUNE- GREATEST MOVIE (N)EVER MADE

THE MOST AMAZING DOCUMENTARY OF 2013. ANYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS MASTERPIECE.
I HAD THE PLEASANT ELEMENT WHERE YOU DISCOVER A PEARL ON YOURSELF.
AS IF BY ACCIDENT.

I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE I DIDN’T WRITE ABOUT THIS ONE BEFORE.

PREPARE FOR THE GREATEST MOVIE (N)EVER MADE.
P.S. – You gotta have subtitles.
AND YOU GOTTA WATCH IT.

IN 1975, THE CONTROVERSIAL DIRECTOR ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY GOT THE PROPERTY RIGHTS FOR THE SEMINAL SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL “DUNE”.

ALTHOUGH HE NEVER ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK, HE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT – THE FILM THAT, IF COMPLETED, WE WOULD ALL LIVE IN A DIFFERENT WORLD…

  • The movie had a budget of about $10,000,000 in 1976 which equals $40,000,000 in 2016 dollars if adjusted for inflation. It could pioneer before Kubrick’s “2001” as the most revolutionary sci-fi film in history.
  •  With the aim to give audiences the mind-opening experience of LSD, and with the planned editorial versions of 4, 12 and 20 hours, the script was rejected by all of the major studios.
  • Frank Herbert’s “DUNE” franchise had several adaptations throughout the years, but none were ever considered worthy by admirers, including the most famous one by legendary surrealist David Lynch.

ACTUAL SPOILERS AHEAD. GO WATCH THE FILM FIRST!

“For me, Dune will be the coming of a god.
I wanted to make something sacred, free,
with new perspective. Open the mind!”
-Alejandro Jodorowsky.

AND MANY MORE TO COME SHOULD HAVE BEEN SINCE THEN PAYING ROYALTIES TO JODOROWSKY AND HIS CREW. AS THEY GAVE BIRTH TO THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY CONCEPT ART EVER.

  1. This is a great piece that significantly expounds upon the appealing aspect of the documentary. I think that the documentary is a heartening and often amusing experience that hoists the weight of the auteur theory on its shoulders with vivid and sobering clarity.
