With today’s tendency toward a healthy lifestyle, how can it be that no changes are made in the menu of movie-goers? it seems that a change of that magnitude is virtually impossible in the current climate of glorified immediate gratification.
Or shouldn’t we consume food at all during viewings?
Popcorn dominates the buffet of any movie theater. The next in order of popularity are sour-sweet candies, Chocolate-covered peanuts or raisins. The other popular foods range from sugar-fueled soft drinks to chocolate bars with little to no nutrition.
I asked myself this question a long time a go;
“How come of all possible snacks popcorn is the main-served in movie theaters?” Wikipedia provides the answer:
“During the Great Depression, popcorn was fairly inexpensive at 5–10 cents a bag and became popular. Thus, while other businesses failed, the popcorn business thrived and became a source of income for many struggling farmers, including the Redenbacher family, namesake of the famous popcorn brand. During World War II, sugar rationsdiminished candy production, and Americans compensated by eating three times as much popcorn as they had before.”
Then I started wondering- what if theaters started to get along with the trends of keeping a healthful diet? I imagined how one radical manager would introduce raw fruits and vegetables, along with milkshakes, and granola bars. Honey spread, grape bunches and nuts variate.
Gradually, maybe in a decade, the whole new system could lower the prices of the larger market.
In my theory that would substitute the need i have, for example, to sometimes mechanically chew on something crispy like rodents habitually do with carrots or cabbage.
Movies can get boring and so you search for something to occupy your background brain activities if you can’t allow yourself to leave.
So, to summarize, we really should not;
It is essential during a meal to witness the actual food. Don’t multitask. If you feel like you will be needing in nutrition in the middle of the film, take an efficient snack with you and that’s it.
Unless (!) you will be watching a horror movie or a film containing gruesome scenes with blood and severe violence.
In that instance, Avoid food consumption at all.
any food you consume will be very poorly absorbed by the body, plus normalize the perception of violent acts by the psyche.
People who are in the habit of “Netflix & chill” meaning a dinner with some episodes of “Game Of Thrones” – Will get dumber and lower their conscience. Guaranteed.
